This is another addition to the long list of decorative painting books, of which Jocasta Innes's Applied Artistry (LJ 1/96) and Annie Sloan's Decorative Paint Effects (LJ 1/97) are among the best. Bradshaw, who is a professional decorative painter, gives clear, well-illustrated instructions to various techniques such as decoupage, gilding, and stenciling along with photographs of how the effects look in finished rooms. Since instructions for each technique are required to fit into a standard two-page format, some of the more complicated techniques are too simplified. Comments: A complete guide to faux finishing! I have been very pleased with the easy-to-follow steps in this book. It contains nearly every faux finish an individual needs to complete his/her home project. Well worth the investment.
