Comments: One of the best books I have read on doing paint effects
This book is entertaining with Glenwoon's corny jokes as he teaches you how easy it really is to do dramatic paint effects. His teckniques are so easy and the results look like you paid a professional to do it. I highly recommand it for the D.I.Ys out there as well as the professionals. As a professional myself, I have adopted some of his techniques over my more difficult and time consuming finishes that I use. I look forward to his next book.

Comments: This book is fauxbulous
I reviewed several faux finishing books. I choose this one because it demonstrates each paint finish in easy to understand steps so there is no misunderstanding the insructions. Other books show great pictures but forget to include instructions. Thanks my home is going to look great. Can't wait for the next book.

Comments: Good, basic book about various painting techniques
I liked this book. It has very good instructions with pictures. The author is also rather eclectic and makes jokes throughout. It can be annoying, but it kept things upbeat. I would have liked more in-depth discussion and more pictures of the samples of each technique. The idea to always test your paint idea on a woodboard (before doing an entire room and then not liking it) is a great tip!

Comments: great tool for those of us who want to improve our skills
I own a plastercraft store in Arkansas and am always looking for new or interesting finishes. "Fresh Paint" is right up my alley since I do custom finishes and have to come up with new looks to keep my customers coming back.

Comments: Best of the lot
I'm pretty familiar with books on painting and decorating and have quite a few. This book will soon become one of my staples. Not only are the decorating ideas fresh and good looking, but he gives whole room views instead of a little color swatch of what the finish looks like. I ordered 10 painting books at the same time and this was the only one I kept. I'm starting on my first big project out of this book next month. I would even rate this book and author higher than Debbie Travis because his instructions are easier and his projects are less "primitive" looking than hers. She was my previous mentor so this is saying a lot.

This book is more than I expected. The text is interesting and get's you pumped up to try something new. Very detailed and thoughtful info. The photos are great. I'm already using some of the techniques on my current decorating assignment. This is a keeper for my library on design.
