 Bungalow Basics: Dining Rooms Bungalow dining rooms were an agreeable mix of the old and the new, offering early-twentieth-century homeowners the latest in modern conveniences and a way to maintain important domestic traditions. Today we admire bungalow dining rooms primarily for their innovative and distinctive design elements: natural-finished woodwork, including rich wainscoting; inviting entryways, sometimes highlighted with colonnades; colorful art-glass windows and lighting fixtures; box-beamed ceilings; massive built-in sideboards; and other built-in furniture.
