Q   I have a worn 15 year old composition vinyl tile floor (over concrete) that needs replacing in my restaurant. My contractor is recommending overlaying another composition vinyl tile floor as the least expensive option. Sound like a good idea? Any advantage to switching to solid vinyl or rubber tiles? (It looks like there are more interesting patterns in solid vinyl.) At present, the kitchen and dining room have the same floor. Should I consider a different floor for the kitchen, like a non-slip one? Would a non-slip one work ok in the dining room? Thanks, Steve

A   Dear Ford,
Switching to solid Vinyl or rubber tiles is no doubt a better choice!!
Available colours and patterns allow you to design you floor according to the setting of your restaurant!

As for the choice between solid vinyl or rubber?
RUBBER!! RUBBER! should be your choice!
Reasons,
1) more stronger and durable
2) available in a range of thicknesses
3) More variety of colours and patterns
4) Lower life cycle cost
5) easier to maintain
6) environmently friendly - no pvc, recycalable
7) softer underfoot comform
8) Better thermo properties - which will cut down you electricity or heating cost
