Q   We are considering frieze carpeting for the main floor in a home we are building. Does it remind anyone of the old shag carpeting? Does anyone know if it will mat down?

A   Frieze carpet is one of the newest styles, it does remind some of the old shag, but it is definately different. The old stuff was acrillic and was very easy to mat down. The newer Frieze is available in different fiber types, depending on your needs and concerns. Yes, Nylon is the most popular and the softest, it wears well in the long run but has one weakness, it is stainable. If you have kids or pets and staining is a big issue, check out the PET or Polyesters, they aren't as soft but much less stainable. Email me if you have any other questions, I will be happy to help.
