Seashells -- exquisite bits of nature dressed in inspired form -- have long been a passion for people around the world. Colorful and curvaceous, shells have a complex natural geometry that is irresistible. Their warm palette of colors -- delicious pinks, deep lavenders, luminescent whites, and shades of silver and sand -- brings the soothing calm of the seashore into your home. Designing with shells hearkens back to the days of ancient grottoes, with their intricate and sophisticated designs, outrageous applications, and exotic allure. Yet shell design is a thoroughly contemporary art form, a creative way to awaken a deeper sensibility for these natural works of art. Shell Chic presents an overview of the work of many shell artists and their varied approaches to applying and designing with shells. The 35 projects featured in this lavishly photographed book enable readers to create richly marvelous objects, such as a child's claw-foot bathtub, a folding screen, an octopus chandelier, a shell-encrusted birdbath, paper mache masks, shell flower arrangements, and numerous projects to share with kids. This book will be savored for its sumptuous decorative flair, fabulous sense of fun, and practical advice on crafting with shells. The pages are filled with inspiration of all kinds, and shells have center stage.

Comments: Look through it in person first.... I looked through this book at a craft store the other day, and as a person who loves the ocean and seashells, I found maybe one project in here that I would consider making. Just about every project uses a ridiculous amount of shells so imagine the cost would be prohibitive and for this reason projects look overly ornate. Unless that is the look you are seeking to accomplish, I wouldn't recommend this book. Try to find "Decorating with Seashells" by Anita Louise Crane
