More Sewing for the Home is a helpful planning and coordinating guide for the do-it-yourself home decor sewer. You'll find tips and techniques used by professional designers to help you plan and decorate in your own unique style. The first section covers developing a home decorating plan, how to mix prints and colors, and how to select the appropriate fiber and finish for the project, as well as construction basics and designer tips.

The rest of the book is divided into three sections.

1. Window Treatments-Shows how-to's for creating tent-flap curtains, tapered valances, padded cornices, and more.

2. Cushions & Pillows-Covers every style such as tie-tab pillows, mock box pillows, and trendy double-flange pillows.

3. Bed & Bath-Includes step-by-step instructions for duvet covers, futon covers, and sink & vanity skirts, and shower curtains.

Colorful photographs show how your project should look at each step of construction, ensuring success.

While many of the books in the Singer Sewing Reference Library are very good, I have found the "Sewing for the Home" series of the books to be the best. These books are lavishly illustrated, with detailed color photographs of every step of the sewing process for home decor items. After purchasing this book, I was able to create lovely custom home decor projects at huge cost savings over custom-made or purchasing ready made items. Even a beginner can achieve very good results with home decor projects using the instructions and methods found in this book. If you are interested in home decor sewing, then you should add this book to your sewing library

This is the first book to offer a comprehensive survey of 19th and 20th century Moroccan rugs and textiles, and features an outstanding collection of mainly rural carpets and covers, tent-weavings, bags, trapping and garments in 115 stunning color plates.

The text examines the rice tradition of Moroccan textiles, which has emerged from a number of different weaving cultures: the indigenous Berber tribes of the High and Middle Atlas; the Arab-speaking tribes of the plains of Marrakesh; and the commercial urban centers of Rabat and Mediouna. This combination of origins has produced a richly varied weaving culture which is renowned for its use of strong color and geometric design. A chapter on the different weaving traditions is followed by sections on each region, illustrated with beautifully reproduced plates of the best examples.

My Prescription for Anti-Depressive Living Total Hits - 827  |  Hits Today - 1Rating:   Rating Average (12)    |  View Ratings  |  Add Your Rating
My Prescription for Anti-Depressive Living offers a window into the life and mind of an extraordinarily creative person who was once told by a pottery professor that he had no talent and should consider another career. Not only did Adler stick with pottery, he transformed it from a dreary, unappealing summer camp craft into a contemporary signifier of modern, handcrafted luxury and became America's first (and only) celebrity potter. Interior designer Bill Sofield has declared, "Jonathan Adler does for American pottery what Noel Coward did for cocktail parties -- he makes life witty, sophisticated, and simply delicious." And now, on a much larger canvas, Adler reveals how you can do the same.
