 | Our stainless steel tiles are manufactured from 304 stainless steel, which contains 18% chromium and 8% nickel. This type of stainless steel is not magnetic, it withstands rusting (see below), it is resistant to food processing environments (except for possibly high temperature conditions involving high acid and chloride contacts), it resists organic chemicals, dyestuffs and a wide variety of inorganic chemicals. As Derrick Riches explains in The Truth about Stainless Steel, "What you need to know is that there is magnetic (400) and non-magnetic (300) stainless steel. 400 series stainless steel is not as durable or corrosion (rust) resistant at 300 series. If you want durability in your stainless steel ... put a magnet on it. If the magnet sticks, don't buy it." Corrosion Resistance Generally resists corrosion in the atmosphere and in water environments, most acids, alkaline solutions and some chlorine bearing environments. Hygienic Extremely easy to clean with biodegradable soap and water Impact Resistant Provides high toughness Brass Finish Our stainless steel tiles with a brass finish have a PVD (Physical Vapor Deposition) coating. The PVD coating is applied to 304 stainless steel, which serves as the base metal. They are resistant to: Corrosion; chemically stable Acids Oxidation, will not fade, tarnish, crack, or peel under normal conditions, indoors or outdoors. Wear from normal usage Color fading Vandalism, marker pens and paints are easily removed Tarnishing, oxidation, discoloration, peeling or cracking in harsh sunlight, salt, humidity, and city environments. PVD - coated stainless shows no change after 1000 hours of salt spray. Brass shown after just 176 hours of salt spray test. Copper Finish Our stainless steel tiles with a copper finish have a PVD (Physical Vapor Deposition) coating. The PVD coating is applied to 304 stainless steel, which serves as the base metal. The advantages of choosing our PVD coated tiles versus copper tiles include that our tiles are harder than copper tiles and they will not patina. Smoked Gray Finish Our stainless steel tiles with a smoked gray finish have a PVD (Physical Vapor Deposition) coating. |
